What this is, and what it is not
This places a picture of your signature on the page — drawn, typed or uploaded. That is an electronic signature, and for most everyday agreements it is what people mean and what is accepted.
It is not a digital signature. That is a cryptographic operation using a certificate, which proves who signed and that nothing has been altered since. A drawn signature proves neither: it can be copied off one document onto another, and the page can be edited afterwards without trace.
Where a document requires a qualified electronic signature — some property, court and cross-border matters do — this is not sufficient, and a certificate provider is what you need.
Making it look right
Drawing with a mouse rarely resembles your handwriting. A finger on a phone is better; a photograph of a signature written on white paper is better still, and uploading that with a transparent background gives the most natural result.
Scale it to about the size you would sign on paper. An enormous signature reads as a mistake, and one too small looks hesitant.
Where the document goes
Nowhere. The PDF is opened, drawn on and saved entirely in your browser — which is the arrangement a contract, a tenancy agreement or an employment offer deserves. Sites that sign on a server hold a copy of everything you signed.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?
For most everyday agreements in most jurisdictions, yes — under eIDAS in the EU and the ESIGN Act in the US, among others. Some document types require a qualified signature backed by a certificate, which this is not.
What is the difference from a digital signature?
A digital signature uses a certificate to prove who signed and that nothing changed afterwards. This places an image on the page and proves neither. They are often confused and are not the same thing.
Can someone alter the document after I sign?
Yes — an image on a page carries no protection. If tamper-evidence matters, you need a certificate-based signature from a provider.
Is my document uploaded?
No. It is opened and saved in your browser. Nothing you sign reaches a server, which is worth knowing given what people sign.
