Walls on or off changes the game entirely
With walls off, the edges wrap: leave on the right and you arrive on the left. That makes the board a loop with no corners to be trapped in, and long games become a question of keeping your own body untangled.
Turn walls on and the four edges become fatal. Suddenly the corners are the dangerous places and the middle is safe, which is the opposite of the habit you build with wrapping on.
It gets faster on its own
Each piece of food shortens the interval between moves slightly, down to a floor. The speed you pick at the start is where it begins, not where it stays.
Two turns pressed inside a single step are queued rather than both applied, which is why a fast double-tap turns a corner instead of folding the snake back into itself. And a straight reversal is simply refused — that would be a death caused by the controls rather than by you.
On a phone
Swipe anywhere on the board, or use the four buttons below it — they appear on narrow screens because a swipe is imprecise at speed and a misread swipe at the wrong moment ends the run.
The board, the food and the score all live in the tab, and your best is kept in this browser. There is nothing to sign into.
The game stops advancing while the tab is in the background rather than running down unattended — coming back to a locked phone does not mean coming back to a dead snake.
Frequently asked questions
Why did I die without touching anything?
Almost always the tail: the square your head moved into was occupied by your own body. The square the tail is leaving in that same step does not count, so a chase-your-own-tail move is legal — but one square further in is not.
Can I pause it?
Press space. On a phone, switching away from the tab pauses it too — the game stops advancing when it is not on screen rather than running down in the background.
Is there a maximum length?
Filling all four hundred squares would be the theoretical end. In practice the speed floor arrives long before that, and the run ends because you cannot plan the next turn fast enough.
