Why this one is deliberately mild
The slowed edits that travel on short-video platforms are far gentler than the ones made for listening, and there is a practical reason: they are heard for fifteen seconds, on a phone speaker, under someone talking. A heavy slow-down and a long reverb tail turn to mush in those conditions, while a five to fifteen percent drop still reads as different without losing the hook.
So this preset sits at about 85% with reverb around a quarter — enough for the change to be obvious when the clip is compared to the original, little enough that the lyric is still perfectly clear.
Making it fit a fifteen-second clip
Remember that slowing the audio makes it longer, so the section you want may no longer fit the video. At 85% a fifteen-second passage becomes about seventeen and a half. Either trim the song first with the audio cutter and slow the piece you need, or slow the whole track and trim afterwards — the second keeps the reverb tail intact across the cut.
Turning the strength down is the fastest way to fit a specific duration without thinking in percentages: it moves everything towards untouched together.
Sound that survives a phone
A phone speaker produces almost nothing below about 500 Hz, which is why the bass boost here is small rather than absent — it is there for headphones, and pushing it further only wastes headroom that the loudness normalisation will take back anyway.
Preview through whatever people will actually hear it on. A version that sounds perfect on studio headphones and vanishes on a phone is the usual outcome of mixing this on the wrong thing.
